Verizon said its Internet service was still down on Tuesday at 8:10 p.m.

The utility said the issue was fixed Monday and that the company was making progress in restoring power to the affected areas.
Virgina, Maryland is the third state to report a power blackout as a result of a solar flare on Wednesday.
According to Verizon, the solar flare hit the utility’s network in northern Virginia at 9:42 p.n.m, which was just before the outage began.
It said it took three hours for the outage to be fixed.
An NBC affiliate in Virginia said on Thursday that the utility had a backup generator in case the flare went into effect again, and that it could still restore power in Virginia at the moment.
