When you want to stream live internet on your laptop or desktop, the best thing you can do is buy a router

We all want the best internet at the best price.
But the truth is, most people are stuck on the old fashioned cable model.
“A lot of the time, we’re using the internet as if it’s a cable box,” says Steve Smith, VP of marketing at Netgear, a major internet provider.
“It’s a big box.
We have a big screen, we have a lot of ports.
It’s just a huge box.”
But you can’t always buy the best broadband internet when you need it.
“We’re getting into the internet of things,” Smith says.
That means devices that can monitor your internet usage and send out alerts.
And while some people prefer the convenience of streaming live internet to watching a video on Netflix, most users aren’t going to be using the full capacity of the internet in their home.
For instance, the average household uses around 60 megabytes (mb) of data per month, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
That means the average home user only needs to watch an average of one video a month.
Smith says that while some of the best deals in the market might include a $50 router, the cheapest option is $70.
“That’s still a lot cheaper than what you get on Netflix,” he says.
“And you can also buy more bandwidth for free.”
So if you want the fastest internet possible, don’t settle for anything less than the best.
